We love Scandinavians!
Our hearts missed a beat when we received are quest for quotation for this Scandinavian style interior design. The house itself was designed by a prestigious architect and because our customers bought the property before the finishing stage, many things had already been set out: the external and internal wood panelling, the tiling of the kitchen- living room and the bathroom (read details later).
Prospects looked promising for our joint venture when we met the family of five: they were enthusiastic, honest and open minded and so were we. No real problems emerged in the project, only tasks to be solved. As the owner of the house works in the construction business, sohe quickly understood what had to be done and sometimes acted as a “catalyst” in the background.
After finishing the visual design it was obvious that we had to change the tiling of the bathrooms as they didn’t match the atmosphere of the house at all. We put resin bonded gravel on the floor and on the walls of the parents’ bathroom. This material is really pleasing as you don’t have to deal with matching the tiles neatly (which doesn’t always turn out the way you want) and you don’t use grout that eventually gets dirty or wears out. As it is a warm surface really, it provides a more pleasant sensation for the wet, bare feet.
We played our part in designing the furniture as well: we designed and had the wardrobes, the kitchen, bathroom and children’ bedroom furniture manufactured and we also helped the family find the pieces of furniture matching their taste.
A coloured glass partition was placed by the entrance door, one side of it functioning as a bar cabinet. The lamps and the carpets were custom made by Hungarian designers. To give it a lighter look we covered the fireplace and its closely integrated seating with limestone.
We are looking forward to taking part in a “Scandinavian” project again!
